THE PANTHER ON GLASTONBURY TOR

At least three people have recently seen a panther on Glastonbury Tor.Glastonbury_Tor_at_dawn_Somerset by Robert Harvey.jpg

‘Again!’ comes the usual sighing response. The issue is, while panthers have been popping up here for years, these sightings still lack the official stamp of reality. Some think it might be a shape-shifting creature from the spirit world. Perhaps it sparks ancestral memories of Grendel-type monsters lurking in the dark.

Personally, I think it’s both physical and otherworldly. First, the arguments for it being real:

  • ‘Credible’ people like farmers have reported seeing it. A few years ago, a farmer said something that left large feline footprints in the mud had taken one of his lambs.
  • Elusive doesn’t mean unreal. Wild animals habitually avoid us, so it’s a special treat ever to see any of them. Panthers are especially hard to spot because they are black.
  • Cats are one of the most adaptable animals on earth. This is why there are more wild varieties of them than any other animal – they adjust to where they find themselves. It would make sense for a large cat to lurk around human settlements because of the greater chance of grub.
  • Unexpected anihippofotocloseupmals are now popping up in odd places all over the world. These are often ex-exotic pets, escapees from zoos and even stowaways from ships.
  • African hippos now live in Columbia. A drug baron once imported them to show off in his pool. When he was murdered, his estate fell into disrepair, and the hippos wandered off. They are now thriving, as Columbia’s lush greenery suits them better than the harsh African climate.
  • A South African man has recently decided to move a group of rhinos to Australia to save them from extinction by poachers for their horns.Raccoon1
  • American racoons escaped from a German zoo when it was bombed in World War Two. Prolific breeders, they have since spread through Europe. Sweden has decided to cull them because they threaten local wildlife. Interloping species that turn out to be destructive like this are now called Judas animals.
  • After all the rumours about pumas living near Los Angeles, they were eventually tracked down. Since 2012, they have been filmed and satellite tagged.  steve-winter-cougar-hollywood

The Glastonbury panther may one day go the same way – tagged, filmed and somehow reduced. I can understand why Australian Aborigines say that photographs steal the soul. While it’s still a mystery, our panther has a numinous quality, which would be a pity to lose.

Many years ago, at the start of my spiritual path, I had a dramatic dream. A panther was trying to come into the house. I was terrified. I tried to barricade the doors – but then it got in by the bathroom window. I gave up, and said ‘OK, let’s talk’. We went outside, where it turned into a jungle boy, and we shared a bag of crisps.

In this dream, the panther represented the power of the spirit world. I think this is likely to be a universal symbol, meaning much the same to most people.  panther spirit animal

When somebody finally tracks down the Glastonbury panther, it will feel like the conquest of a mystery – and a little candle of magic will go out. However, it doesn’t have to be like that. So much of life is both physical and symbolic at the same time. I hope that for many of us the panther on the Tor can be both real and magical – like a shamanic guide animal, and a true bridge between the worlds.

If you’ve ever seen an animal in an unexpected place, drop me a line – I’d love to hear from you!

HOW TO GET CLEAR ANSWERS FROM YOUR DREAMS

Our dreams are aldreaming4ways giving us key messages about our lives and showing what lies ahead for us. After recording and studying my dreams for the last 30 years, I’ve found they really do tell us the truth.

The trouble is, dreams use a foreign language that we have to learn in order to understand them. That is the language of symbolism. It can sometimes be so complex that even if you’re fluent in dreamspeak, some dreams will always be baffling.

On top of that, most people just don’t have the time to interpret their dreams. The demands of the day call them on. Dreams that could have been hugely helpful to understand soon fade back into the unconscious.

However, one kind of dream is instantly understandable: dreams about trains and stations. Those dreams give clear messages, with symbolism that is easy to interpret.padd tickt Stations represent beginnings, endings, times of choice and of waiting.

Trains stand for the journeys we make. This can be the journey of our lifetime, or smaller journeys through particular experiences. Because of this, a train dream is a good way to see how anything that you’re concerned about will turn out.

THE REDUNDANCY CRISIS

For example, a friend was worried about redundancies looming at her workplace. She feared that she’d be among them. So she asked for a dream to show her what was going to happen. In the dream, she was in a train carriage that was crowded with her work colleagues. She and a few others were being pushed more and more to the side.

Then the train stopped at a station. She and the others who’d been pushed aside all got off. The meaning of the dream was clear – she would be among the redundancies that were coming up. This made it easier for her come to terms with that some weeks before the news finally broke.

While waiting for the axe to fall, she set her worries to rest by starting to look for another job. Because of the dream, by the time she left her old job she’d successfully re-organised her life. She went smoothly from there to another job that turned out to be preferable in many new ways.

HOW WILL THIS TURN OUT?

A few years ago, I was wondering whether to approach a publisher with my book proposal for ‘Magic Past Lives’. I made a list of possible publishers, with Hay House at the top of the list. At that stage, I had no idea if this was even worth doing. So I asked for a dream to show me how it would turn out.

This was the dream: I was on a station. I had to find out the details of which train I was about to catch. I went to the office to ask about it.

They told me my train would arrive at Platform 1. DreamTrain There were two platforms at that station. I walked past Platform 2, and went to Platform 1.

I could see a train a little way off, already coming in to that platform. This would be my train. From the times the office had given me, I knew it would leave soon after arriving. So I got on as soon as it came in.

That dream turned out to be truly prophetic. Hay House was Platform 1 – my first choice. The two platforms at that station meant there was another publisher I could have approached. Although I have some guesses, I’ll now never know which publisher Platform 2 represented in the dream.

On the strength of this message, I wrote to Hay House first. Six months later, they accepted my book proposal. The symbolism of the train coming in and boarding it right away had all come true.

THE WIN-WIN WARNING

Recently I had another prophetic dream using train symbology. I’d had an invitation to give a past life workshop as part of a spiritual retreat in another country. It looked like a great idea. But as time went by, I began to feel strangely uneasy about it. So I asked for a dream to show me the real situation.

In the dream, I was on a train that was waiting at a station. There were others in the carriage. Everything seemed fine. Then a station official came to tell us that something had gone wrong. He said people were leaving the train and going on by taxi. So we all got off the train.

We saw two lifts on the other side of a large hallway. They were full of people – and the lift doors were closing. Those people would be able to move on by bus. But we’d missed that chance as well. The only way left to us was a long and tiresome walk up the stairs.

The train was clearly the planned retreat. Something had gone wrong. It was important to get off it as soon as possible.

The symbology of leaving by taxi, then bus, then a tough walk meant that the situation would be increasingly difficult to leave the longer I left it. It was also clear that other people were involved, and it would affect them too.orient express clock

As the retreat was still some time ahead, I e-mailed the event organiser that day with many apologies about dropping out. She wrote back right away, saying my news was a great relief to her. It was a sign that she could now go ahead and call off the retreat, which she’d been itching to do.

The extra good news was that my e-mail came just in time for her to cancel the various arrangements before getting more financially entangled. I never mentioned the dream to her, so it didn’t influence her decision.

This experience proved yet again not only how spot-on our dreams can be – but how they also take others into account. As a result, a potentially difficult situation turned out smoothly for everyone concerned.

HOW TO GET A TRAIN DREAM

Are you wondering about a decision you need to make? If you should continue something or let it go? Or how something in your life is going to turn out? If so, a train dream is one of the best ways to get a clear answer.

Follow these simple steps:

platform hgwrts 1. Decide what you want to know more about.

2. Ask your inner self for a dream that will show you what you need to know.

3. Ask for this answer to come preferably in the form of a train dream.

4. Keep a notepad by your bed, and write down whatever dreams you get – even if they seem to make no sense at the time. The meaning often becomes clear when you look at the symbolism later on.

5. The advantage of a train dream is that the symbolism is already very clear.

HOW TO INTERPRET YOUR TRAIN DREAM

1. If you’re getting on a train, it means you’re going ahead with something. If you’re getting off, it means leaving a situation.

2. If you’re on a train that isn’t stopping, there will be no change.

3. If you’re waiting at a station, it means you’re waiting for something that’s on the way.

4. Notice the background details of the dream. Light, sunshine, clear colours, smart surroundings, open areas to move into, or a happy feeling all mean that the outlook is favourable.

5. If the place feels dark, murky, too crowded or unkempt in any way, this is a sign that something is wrong. For example, you might get off a dirty train, and then find yourself waiting on a bright, clean station. This would mean that you’re leaving a bad situation, and will then have to wait for something else – but this is a good development.

I’d love to hear about your train dreams – or any other significant dream you’ve had. You’re welcome to share your dreams in the comments to this article, or e-mail me if you’d rather keep it private. Happy dreaming!

HEALING DREAMS

Did you know that your own dreams have the power to heal? And you can tap into that power simply by asking for a dream to help you.

ImageI proved that to myself some years ago. I had an annoying sty on my eye. It was painful, and nothing was shifting it. So as a last resort, I called on my inner spirit to send me a dream to heal it. This is the dream I had that night:

I was walking along a city street. An old friend of mine appeared, and asked why I was wearing dark glasses. I said it was to hide this awful sty – and took them off to show him. He peered at my eyes and said ‘But there’s no sty!’ I looked at my reflection in a plate-glass window – and saw that he was right. The sty had gone!

Next morning it was almost completely dried up. A day later it had disappeared. I just knew that the dream I’d had in response to my plea had somehow cured it.

Dreams can also heal more deep-seated problems than that. Chronic asthma had troubled a friend of mine for most of his life. He’d tried everything to cure it, but to little effect. So he was happy to try asking for a dream that might help.

He dreamed of being back in a medieval castle. As he lay sleeping in bed, someone crept into his room and began to smother him with a pillow. He said he vividly recalled the panic he felt at not being able to breathe.

Then, suddenly, he decided to fight back. He kicked his assailant, making him lose his grip for a few precious moments, and was able to gasp in huge breaths of air. In the dream, the air made him grow bigger and stronger with every breath. His attacker took fright at that and ran away. He said he had a wonderful feeling that he’d now grown beyond being smothered in any way – either physically or emotionally.

In the weeks that followed he said his asthma reduced so much it was hardly noticeable any more. When I next saw him, I asked how that was going. He said jokingly ‘What asthma? Never heard of it!’

Dreams can even heal a broken heart. A woman I know was desperately sad after losing the man she thought was the love of her life. Nothing was helping her to get over it. She agreed to try asking for a dream to help without having much faith that it would work.

ImageA dream soon came to her in which she was standing facing her lost love. They were in a large formal garden, standing near to a maze. He had two gifts that he could give her. One was a Valentine-type box of chocolates, in the shape of a red heart. That was the gift she wanted. The other was just a plain box. That was the one he gave her.

She was so disappointed she wasn’t even going to open it – but he told her she’d be pleased if she did. So with some difficulty, she opened that box. Inside was a beautiful crystal talisman. It was in the shape of a heart. She said she realised right away that it made the Valentine heart look cheap and tacky in comparison.

She held the talisman to her heart and could feel it giving her strength, and connecting her with the wisdom of the higher heart. She knew it was a greater gift than the chocolate box could ever have been. This was the result of a soul contract they’d decided between them in the between-life worlds. Soul mates aren’t always romantic partners – but they will always be faithful to the higher bond between you.

Next day she said that although she still felt sad, at a deep level she understood why things had turned out the way they did. After that, her pain faded more quickly than she expected.

Dreams heal holistically, working at the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical levels all at the same time. This is why they are so effective. The Ancient Egyptians knew this, and regularly used the power of dreams to cure a wide range of issues.

ImageJust as they did, you can ask for a dream to help you with any problem in your life. This is called ‘incubating a dream’ – but I think ‘asking for a dream’ is a better way to describe it.

The dreams you get in reply don’t have to be lucid. They are just as effective if you recall them like any other dream. When you’ve asked for one, keep a notepad by your bed and write your dreams down while you still remember them.

This is a wonderful resource – and it’s freely available to everyone. Everyone I know who tried this said it not only helped them solve a problem; it also set them off on an exciting new journey of discovery. May it be so for you as well.

I’d be delighted to hear from anyone who’d like to share their healing dream experiences.
